|Mayor Sly James will attend MainCor's March Networking Luncheon!
This month, we are excited to announce that Mayor Sly James will be our Networking Luncheon's Special Guest! He is coming to discuss the GO Bond and election on April 4th. We are expecting a high volume of attendees, so please try to RSVP
if you can make it.
The General Obligation (GO) Bonds will be voted upon on the April 4th ballot. They are comprised of a series of 3 questions, each regarding a different source for the funds. Midtown, and Kansas City as a whole, need these GO Bonds in order to improve our public infrastructure and create a safer, more accessible and walkable, well-maintained city.
Question 1 addresses roads, bridges, and sidewalks and would provide $600 million over the next 20 years to help pay for badly needed street and bridge repairs. It will also fund the sidewalk repair program, alleviating the burden from homeowners. Question 2 would provide the city with $150 million over 20 years to be put towards flood control projects. Finally, Question 3 regards public buildings and the city animal shelter. Over 20 years, 50 million will be used to fund public building and park improvements, as well as a new animal shelter.
All of this is possible if you vote "Yes" on April 4th. These bonds will be paid back over a 20 year period through a property tax increase of around $8 a year for homeowners. The benefits are numerous and we need your support to make it happen. For more information please visit 123KCGOBonds.com
